


When you are late you will be marked as absent so whenever possible, try and maintain good habits by aiming to be a few minutes before class time. Being late is disruptive to everybody - you, your classmates and teachers. There may be times outside of your control causing you to be late but it is important that you always do your best to arrive on time. Examples of personal reasons include weddings, holidays, sports or hobbies. This could result in the cancellation of your visa and personal reasons are not acceptable for missing classes. If you are an international student and your attendance drops below 80%, UTS College is required to advise the Department of Home Affairs. However, in-person attendance at a specific location could be required for certain activities, tests or exams associated with the course.Class attendance plays a big part in academic success. Asynchronous Meeting sections take place online and have no requirement for attendance at a specific time or location.Make sure to thoroughly read the course delivery instructions in the Timetable. Only courses with lecture sections identified with a "99" code are completely online (e.g., LEC9901), otherwise there could be an in-person course component or assessment that will require you to be on campus. In some cases, however, in-person attendance at a specific location could be required for certain activities, tests or exams associated with the course. Online - Synchronous Meeting sections require online attendance at a specific time for some or all activities.In Person Meeting sections require attendance at a specific time and location for some or all activities (subject to adjustments imposed by public health requirements).
